Worrying about which major party wins a general election is like worrying about whether Coke or Pepsi sold more soft drinks last month. Pick your poison. One is just as bad as the other. Neither has any fidelity to the Constitution or to the principles of liberty, which it represents. Both John McCain and Barack Obama are enemies to constitutional government. Both are in the process of sacrificing our national sovereignty to global entities. Both men lied when they took an oath to preserve and protect the Constitution. So, why should we care which impostor wins the election?

Acts of War

The war between the United States and Iran is on. American taxpayer dollars are being used, with the permission of Congress, to fund activities which result in Iranians being killed and wounded, and Iranian property destroyed. This wanton violation of a nation’s sovereignty would not be tolerated if the tables were turned and Americans were being subjected to Iranian-funded covert actions which took the lives of Americans, on American soil, and destroyed American property and livelihood. Many Americans remain unaware of what is transpiring abroad in their name. Many of those who are cognizant of these activities are supportive of them, an outgrowth of misguided sentiment which holds Iran accountable for a list of grievances used by the U.S. government to justify the ongoing global war on terror. Iran, we are told, is not just a nation pursuing nuclear weapons, but is the largest state sponsor of terror in the world today.

The issue of unilateral U.S. sanctions is most worrisome. Both the House of Representatives, through HR 362, and the Senate, through SR 580, are preparing legislation which would call for an air, ground and sea blockade of Iran. Back in October 1962, President Kennedy, when considering the imposition of a naval blockade against Cuba in response to the presence of Soviet missiles in that nation, opined that “a blockade is a major military operation, too. It’s an act of war.” Which, of course, it is. The false diplomacy waged by the White House in Geneva simply pre-empted any congressional call for a diplomatic outreach. Now the president can move on with the mission of facilitating a larger war with Iran by legitimizing yet another act of aggression. One day, in the not-so-distant future, Americans will awake to the reality that American military forces are engaged in a shooting war with Iran. Many will scratch their heads and wonder, “How did that happen?” The answer is simple: We all let it happen. We are at war with Iran right now. We just don’t have the moral courage to admit it.

The Republican economy in the 21st century has been unable to create net new jobs for Americans except for low-wage domestic services such as waitresses, bartenders, retail clerks and hospital orderlies. Republican deregulation brought about fraud in mortgage lending and dangerous financial instruments which have collapsed the housing market, leaving a million or more homeowners facing foreclosure. The financial system is in disarray and might collapse from insolvency. The trade and budget deficits have exploded. The US trade deficit is larger than the combined trade deficits of every deficit country in the world.

The US can no longer finance its wars or its own government and relies on foreign loans to function day to day. To pay for its consumption, the US sells its existing assets – companies, real estate, toll roads, whatever it can offer – to foreigners.

Republicans have run roughshod over the US Constitution, Congress, the courts and civil liberties. Republicans have made it perfectly clear that they believe that our civil liberties make us unsafe – precisely the opposite view of our Founding Fathers. Yet, Republicans regard themselves as the Patriotic Party.

LBJ was duplicitous and the second of several would-be dictators of America. His social engineering packages began the cultural destruction of the nation and the set-up the socialist-corporate- models for the unfettered greed of the ever-expanding corporate states within this country: Socialism for the Corporations; and Fascism for the poor and middle classes-but at this stage velvet gloves still covered the iron fists of state-fascism.

Along the way a gruesome and unbelievable thing took place during the 'Six-Day-War' in 1967. That is when Israel tried to sink the USS Liberty, an unarmed American spy ship off the coast of Israel. During the attack the ship managed to get out a call for assistance and US Navy fighters were scrambled to come to her aid. But at the last minute the fighters were ordered to turn back by the Pentagon. Not satisfied with this order the US squadron commander ordered the jets to return to help the Liberty, at which point LBJ told that commander to stand down and 'I want that ship on the bottom of the Mediterranean!' The 'investigation of this "incident" was a charade that has no equal in US military history, and it was successfully covered up by the Pentagon and the US media until very recently-to the disgrace of everyone involved. This cover-up left bloody footprints, because until very recently few could fathom why any American president would ever dare to order such a thing to happen. Who could be that powerful to order LBJ to call for that outcome; only one country comes to mind and that is Israel. Who stood to gain the most from JFK's death, if not LBJ: Who had the motive and means to carry out the assassination of a sitting US president? I cannot prove that this is true, but it would certainly explain a great deal about why the US never challenges anything that Israel wants done in the world- regardless of the cost. At the very least this ought to be officially investigated-and that'll happen on the 32nd day of next month-no doubt!

Perhaps in five more years, 100 years after the creation of the Federal Reserve, the US dollar will have lost 100 % of its value—which means in five years the US paper dollar will be worth nothing.

Throughout history, no fiat money system has stood the test of time. All attempts to substitute paper money for gold and silver have ended in the total destruction and debasement of the currency.

We compensate by getting a boat to take them to the river, a van to carry them to Little League, a 2,800-square-foot house, an ATV, a zero-turn Cub Cadet, and a fund to finance a brand-name college education. And most significantly, we claim "our right" to pursue a career for our own "self-fulfillment."

Status Report on the Collapse of the U.S. Economy

It’s a “perfect storm,” the result of a 200-year-old financial system where money is largely created by bank lending and where since 1980 our industry and jobs have been increasingly outsourced abroad to cheap labor markets. Thus domestic incomes have stagnated while the nation’s GDP has not been able to keep up with the exponential growth of debt.

While the mainstream media are blind, deaf, and dumb as to the causes, the victims within the middle and working classes are seeing their livelihoods ruined, jobs taken away, pensions eroded, homes foreclosed on, and are being saddled with ever-increasing debt and forced to work under more and more stress due to rising burdens of taxation, gas and food price inflation, and bureaucratic rules and regulations. The only places a more-or-less normal life may still be possible will be the wealthiest imperial centers like Washington, New York, Houston, Chicago, or San Francisco.

All that the current bailouts being engineered by the Federal Reserve are doing is to create more debt to shore up failing financial institutions. No new wealth is being created. It’s band-aids on band-aids.

Little War Criminals Get Punished, Big Ones Don’t

Bush and Blair’s crimes against humanity in Iraq and Afghanistan dwarf, at least in the number of deaths and displaced persons, the terrible situation in Darfur. The highest estimate of Darfur casualties is 400,000, one-third the number of Iraqis who have died as a result of Bush’s invasion. Moreover, the conflict in the Sudan is an internal one, whereas Bush illegally invaded two foreign countries, war crimes under the Nuremberg Standard. Bush’s war crimes were enabled by the political leaders of the UK, Spain, Canada, and Australia. The leaders of every member of the "coalition of the willing to commit war crimes" are candidates for the dock.

But of course the Great Moral West does not commit war crimes. War crimes are charges fobbed off on people demonized by the Western media, such as the Serbian Milosevic and the Sudanese al-Bashir.

How to Prevent a War With Iran

The repercussions of a war with Iran would be devastating, for as Tom Engelhardt recently explained, Iran has "a remarkable capacity to inflict grievous harm locally, regionally, and globally." Since most Americans are relatively unconcerned about the number of innocent Iranians that might be wounded or killed in any U.S. military action against Iran (all Muslims are terrorists; and besides, their skin is darker than ours) or even the number of U.S. soldiers who might be wounded or killed (they enlisted of their own free will; and besides, they are defending our freedoms), I will just mention one area in which grievous harm will occur: the price of oil. A war with Iran, as Engelhardt also noted, "would result in a global oil shock of almost inconceivable proportions." And this time, it would be clear to all from the beginning that the price of oil was directly related to the war.

Engelhardt doesn’t think war with Iran is likely, and I hope he is right. But when it comes to this evil administration, nothing is out of the question, nothing is off limits, nothing is too far-fetched.

But if Bush the decider in chief is determined to multiply his war crimes by attacking Iran, or giving Israel a green light (or not issuing a red light) to do so with the promise of U.S. military backup, what can be done to prevent such a war from taking place? I see only one solution: the troops.

One reason we can count on "more of the same" is that the disaster most Americans are suffering from is not a disaster for the power elite: for them it is a huge and very profitable success.

For example, the 9/11 terror attacks have made billions of dollars for corporations like Blackwater and Haliburton and dozens of others, and have spawned a glorious new era of political repression and entirely new government empires, including Homeland Security and the TSA . As the Neocons told us long before the 9/11 attacks (see reason number 10 in Top 10 Reasons for a New 9/11 Investigation), a major attack on this country – a "new Pearl Harbor " – was necessary to rally public opinion around their oh-so-important plans for taking over the Middle East . What luck! A bunch of Arabs hiding in caves decided to provide just such a provocation.

The attacks of September 11, 2001 were a genuine horror, the resulting police state has been a nuisance at the least (and a terror in and of itself for those who know some history), and the two wars and occupations falsely justified by the attacks have killed over a million human beings, wrecked the infrastructure of both target nations, and put a $3 trillion-and-growing millstone around the neck of the American taxpayer. But see, that's just how it looks to the little people. In the Big Picture, as seen by Bush/Cheney and their friends in the War and Terror industries, the 9/11 attacks were a godsend.
