Most of the information and articles I post here paint a gloomy picture of the world and the future. There is no doubt that Satan and his operatives, both human and spirit, have accelerated the pace at which they seek to control and abuse the people of the earth. But the return of our Lord Jesus Christ is imminent and His judgement will be righteous and swift upon these evil beings.
I have to constantly remind myself to focus on God and who He is, rather than on the turmoil I see all around me. Times are uncertain, tyranny is raising it's ugly head, violence and war are spreading, and we are facing economic collapse.
But the Lord Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. He demonstrated His love for us when he submitted Himself to His torturers at Calvary in order to secure our salvation, and He loves us still. He was capable of performing miracles during His lifetime here on earth, and He is still capable of performing miracles today, because He lives!
One of most important lessons taught in the Bible is that when we find ourselves in the midst of turmoil, uncertainty, and danger, if we focus on God and who He is, He will sustain and protect us and carry us through the fire so to speak.
In Numbers chapter 21, the people of Israel sinned against God, so God sent poisonous snakes to chastise them. When the people cried out to God for forgiveness and deliverance, God told Moses to make a serpent of brass and set it upon a pole. The Bible then says this in verse 9:
"And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived."
That brass serpent that Moses placed on the pole was a representation of Jesus Christ. Today we find ourselves surrounded by fiery serpents in the form of chaos and danger due to our rebellious and sinful nature and the exploits of the god of this world, which is Satan.
However, if we remember to focus not on the danger, but on the one who has overcome all of these things, God will not only sustain us through these trials but grant us eternal life as well.
In the midst of our trials, If we behold Him, we will live.
